In this 3D animated video, I examine the most common early symptoms and risk factors of breast cancer and explain to you why screening is so important.
The most common symptom of breast cancer is a new lump or mass, other symptoms include discharge from the nipple, dimpling on the breast, nipple changes, and irritation of the skin.
The most common cause of hereditary breast cancer is an inherited mutation in the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene. Other risk factors include a personal history of breast conditions, a family history of breast conditions, and being female.
A mammogram is an X-ray picture of the breast. Doctors use a mammogram to look for early signs of breast cancer. Regular mammograms are the best tests doctors have to find breast cancer early, sometimes up to three years before it can be felt.
